Dear Struggling Physics Students,

My hope is that this testimonial will act as evidence to you that Clayton Handleman is an excellent physics tutor that is capable of helping you succeed in this very difficult class.

I am a senior at UMass Boston pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science. Generally, I am an A to B student, but Physics was one subject I just could not wrap my head around. I took it in the summer of 2017 and failed miserably. It was the last class I needed to graduate so I decided to retake the course during the fall 2017 semester. I contacted Clayton after coming across his website.
Immediately after speaking with him on the phone, I was already starting to feel better about the course. He was very understanding and optimistic about being able to help me.

We met on the weekends at Panera Bread located at the Derby Street Shops, usually for two-hour sessions. During these sessions, we focused on reviewing the material covered in the lecture the previous week and preparing for the following week. I saw immediate results after starting my weekly meetings with Clayton. I had a much easier time understanding the concepts presented in class and my performance on the quizzes and exams improved substantially.

I cannot say enough good things about Clayton. He personalizes each tutoring session to focus on reinforcing your strengths and reducing your weaknesses. He worked hard to restore my confidence in problem solving which was crucial for my success in the class. It is evident that he cares about your performance and offers his continual support and encouragement.

I was so excited and relieved to find out that I ended the fall semester with a B+ in physics. From my experience, hiring Clayton as a tutor made all the difference in the world. I highly recommend him to anyone struggling with the topic, whether it is at the high school or college level. He is an excellent teacher that puts in a great deal of time and effort to ensure your performance in the class improves. Without Clayton, I feel as though I would have failed the class a second time around. He uses a variety of teaching techniques to simplify complex concepts and provide a well-rounded education of the subject. He is patient and thoughtful, unlike the tutors I met with at school. I was not afraid to ask questions or request further clarification on something that I did not understand. Overall, I had a great experience
with Clayton and would absolutely recommend him to a friend. Thanks to him, I was able to finish the final requirement of my undergraduate degree and receive my diploma. To me, that is priceless.

To Whom it May Concern:

This is an enthusiastic letter of reference for Clayton Handleman. I approached Clayton to request physics tutoring services for my ninth grade (15 year old) daughter and was incredibly fortunate that he chose to work with us.

My daughter is generally a strong student, but was receiving inconsistent results in Physics. For example she would perform well on 2 quizzes, then do poorly on the subsequent test. Her frustration was high, and her confidence was low. Her physics teacher suffered from a busier-than-usual schedule and could provide little additional assistance.

Clayton began working with my daughter mid-year, without the benefit of familiarity with her specific curriculum or the teacher’s approach. He deftly jumped right in and figured out a plan of attack. His goal was to both help academic assessment results and increase my daughter’s confidence. He was highly successful on both counts.

Clayton is an excellent teacher. He was able to help my daughter become a more resourceful problem solver and trust her own instincts. He deconstructed difficult concepts well, and reconstructed them in a digestible format. He is responsible with time and he is unfailingly prepared and professional. He is thorough, and pokes in all the dark corners of a student’s understanding of a subject looking for areas of confusion.

In addition to his talent as a teacher, Clayton is simply a nice person. He is patient, enthusiastic and kind. Clayton struck the right balance of fun and serious with my teenage daughter, and she felt safe showing her lack of understanding of concepts with him. In our experience, Clayton’s personal integrity was high.
