About

Clayton Handleman

Clayton received his MSc in physics from Purdue University. During his time in West Lafayette Indiana, Clayton ran a private tutoring business on the Purdue University campus serving 15 - 20 students weekly.

After graduate school, Clayton Moved to Massachusetts to do Cold War related defense research and development at MIT Lincoln Laboratories. There he upgraded his skills, taking graduate electrical engineering courses and solving challenging problems in signal processing, radar, and electronics. During his time there he became interested in renewable energy and found a position doing product development in the then nascent field of inverter design.

In addition to the work he was doing, the company he worked for had an intriguing project where, in conjunction with a Midwestern utility, solar arrays were placed on a group of schools and monitored with the operational solar array data used in classrooms to help teach science. He found this fascinating.

Mr. Handleman struck out on his own and created a business that expands on the concept. Mr. Handleman conceived and managed the development of the Solar Learning Lab(TM) educational portal. The portal takes data feeds from around the country and uses them to teach science and math in high school classrooms. While doing that work, he trained teachers and developed curriculums.

Business conditions changed and Mr. Handleman closed the business and set out on a new path, teaching, and has been doing it ever since.
